JAPAN, EDO period (1688-1735) signed by the gunsmith "Oosumimori Munesuke" better known as "Myochin Munesuke" (1688-1735).
Openwork sukashi tsuba. The decoration represents a dragon emerging from the water and a samurai in pursuit. The same motif can be seen on the back.
Chinese characters indicate: "Osumi Province" and an officer's name: "Sosuke".
Bronze with a high copper content giving a beautiful pinkish, amber patina. Height: 8 cm.
