The Trinity of the Old Testament
Russia, Moscow, 18th c.
Tempera on panel.
The Trinity is represented in the form of the Hospitality of Abraham (Genesis), the three Angels are received by Abraham and Sarah, in the foreground the allegory of the sacrifice of Isaac.
Very beautiful classical painting, probably from a Moscow workshop or the Golden Circle. The angels richly adorned with gold stand out against an architectural, plant and mineral background.
The icon has unfortunately been truncated by sawing off the entire outer border, but is in very good condition.
