SEVRES Hard porcelain oval beard dish with gold decoration in the center of bouquets of flowers and birds in an oval medallion on a background of gold peas, rocaille scrolls on the edge. Marked : LL interlaced, without letter-date, gilder's mark Weydinger. 18th century, circa 1780. L. 32 cm. A restored chip. On December 14, 1782 Madame du Barry buys from the Sèvres factory a bearded dish whose decoration is not specified, for the price of 84 livres. In July 1782, six golden bearded dishes by the painter Weydinger and described with golden dots were put in the oven (Arch. Sèvres, Cité de la céramique Vy8 f° 226 and Vl'2 f° 21). The bearded dish bought by Madame du Barry is described in 1793 as having a white background with gold borders and spots (AD. Y 78 IV, Q36). It is mentioned in the room of the duke of Brissac having seen on the garden in the inventory of the goods of the countess du Barry in the castle of Louveciennes begun on March 6th, 1793 (see Christian Baulez, Madame du Barry, de Versailles à Louveciennes¸ exhibition catalogue, 1992, p. 66)
