SEVRES Two soft porcelain ice cups from the service given by Louis XVI to Prince Henry of Prussia in 1784 with polychrome decoration of a bouquet of flowers in a reserve surrounded by palms and foliage in gold on a green background, garland of flowers in gold around the handle. Marked : LL interlaced, letter-date EE for 1782, mark of the painter Cornailles and mark of the gilder Chauvaux. 18th century, 1782. H. 6,8 cm. A restored chip on an ice cup, a restored chip at the base of a handle. Provenance: Prince Henry of Prussia (1726-1802) These ice cups come from the service offered by Louis XVI on October 22, 1784 to Prince Henry of Prussia, young brother of King Frederick of Prussia, during his trip to France under the name of Count of Oels. The service is described green bottom, group of flowers and fruits. It included 20 ice cups. Two other ice cups from the service are in the English Royal Collections at Windsor Castle and reproduced by Sir Geoffrey de Bellaigue French Porcelain in the collection of Her Majesty the Queen, 2009, vol.
