Sword of a French Peer from the reign of King Louis XVIII. Spindle with mother-of-pearl plates, decorated on both sides with gilded and chased brass motifs with the profile of Athena helmeted. The pommel is a lion's head, decorated with acanthus leaves, the hilt has a branch decorated with friezes and fleur-de-lis, the body knot bears the royal number "L". Right quillon ending in palmette. Important keyboard with the Great Arms of France girded with the Order of Saint Michael, surrounded by horns of plenty and foliage. Straight blade with round back, hollow sides (oxidation). Heel signed "Manufre Royale du Klingenthal Coulaux Frères" and "Cahier et Manceaux". Leather scabbard (wear) with two gilded brass fittings. Scabbard signed on the back "Cahier et Manceaux à Paris". Knob of chape with the armature. Bouterole decorated with palmettes, flowers and fleur-de-lis. Restoration period, reign of Louis XVIII . Provenance: Descendant of Champagny, Duke of Cadore. He was Peer of France from 1814 to 1834.
