Round bronze plaque with a medallic patina representing the right profile of the emperor Galba. Inscription IMP[erator] . SER[vius] SVLP[icius] GALBA .CAESAR . AVG[ustus] TR[ibunicia Potestas] P[ater] P[atriae] (Servius Sulpicius Caesar Augustus Tribune du Peuple Père de la Patrie) Italy, early 16th century Ancient cast iron Diameter: 5.4 cm Book consulted: G. Bekker, Europaïsche Plaketten und Medaillen vom 15.bis zum 18. Jahrhundert, Grass Museum Leipzig, 1998, n° 71, p.36. This is a rather rare plate with a beautiful cast quality. The one in the National Museum of Ravenna, with remains of gilding, is damaged, the one in Skokloster Castle in Sweden has worn reliefs and the one in the Grass Museum in Leipzig has a slightly deformed edge as here.
