China campaign.
Italian style photographic album bound in carved wood with immortals decoration, titled on the fourth plate: CHINA CAMPAIGN 1936 - 1938 HB. Probably constituted by a senior officer of the French navy on mission in the Far East.
The set gives a snapshot of the world of international concessions in North China in the 1930s.
The album contains about 350 photographs, all located and captioned:
With many views of Tianjin and its international concessions: French, Russian, English, Italian, Japanese; views of Peking: temples and pagodas, bridges, civil monuments, imperial palace, street scenes; Chinese wall; a significant number of views of Chinese manners and customs; landscapes of Shan Hai Yuan, religion, international concessions, English parades and a significant set of images on the Philippines. Size of the binding : 28x38 cm. Size of the photographic prints : 7,2x11 cm.
