A beautiful original hand-colored map from 1640 of Southeast Asia, focusing on Indonesia and the Spice Islands.
Sight size : 41 x 52,5 cm. (Nice frame of 64x78 cm).
One of the first important maps to reveal the explorations made by the Dutch East India Company with its ship "Duyfken": of the Dutch East Indies, Indochina and the Philippines, as well as a historical map in the very early Dutch cartography of Australia.
Johannes Janssonius (1588-1664) was a Dutch cartographer, active in Amsterdam in the 17th century. Very good condition.
