THE LIBRARY Pascal Pradié, Saint-Wandrille Abbey The library of the Thomas du Fossé de Bosmelet family is essentially composed of two parts: The first part is of the classical type found in all families of the ancien régime and consists of works on law, history, literature, spirituality and dictionaries. The second part reflects the Jansenist thinking of the family in the 17th century. Among the printed works are those of the leaders of Port-Royal thought, including Louis-Isaac Le Maistre de Sacy, Mère Angélique de Saint-Jean Arnauld, Arnauld d'Andilly, the oratorian Quesnel, Bishop Jansenius and Sébastien Le Nain de Tillemont. Some Fathers of the Church are in a good place like Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Augustine. In addition, there are more polemical works, sometimes anonymous, related to the controversy surrounding Port-Royal, the retraction or the Unigenitus Bull. Another interesting aspect of the Jansenist library is the reconstituted entity of the library of Pierre Thomas du Fossé, based on the themes of the works, the handwritten ex-libris bearing the various mentions of Thomas or Thomas du Fossé, and finally the dates of publication of the works. This collection gives an interesting insight into the library of a Solitaire and above all of an eminent figure of Norman Jansenism.
