With a plate like this one, we understand why
why the amnesiac with the grey temple has immediately established himself
as one of the most charismatic characters in the
the Franco-Belgian comic strip. Everything in this sequence
condemns the hero: he is stuck in the small room of a
room of a one-eyed hotel with no less than five killers
on his tail. He naturally escapes, leaving
one suitcase out of two. Of course, the one he took with him
contains the windfall of dollars, the price of his freedom. It takes all the talent
all the talent of a Vance to direct an action scene
with such an economy of means.
Vance and Van Hamme, the dream team!
One of the rare times I had to ask Vance to correct a drawing; he had forgotten the briefcase with the money on the bed.
