Homage to Cézanne, ca. 1908-1910 Oil on canvas, stamped on the back by the gallery L. Libaude. Libaude on the back of the stretcher. 65 x 81 cm We would like to thank Mrs. Hélène Koehl, president of the association Les Amis d'Alfredo Müller, who kindly confirmed the authenticity of this work. At Rosenberg's, 38, avenue de l'Opéra, Mr. Alfred Müller, who had been known for a long time as a lithographer, exhibited his paintings at last. This was not a revelation for the discerning art lover. They had already noticed his paintings and bought them, always on the lookout. But for some, Alfred Müller is a new name and they will admire in this artist one of Cézanne's best pupils, one whom he would not have disowned, for Müller has nothing in common with the young jokers who claim to be, without right, the Master. M. Alfred Müller has, more than Cézanne, the science of his art, a sure craft, a perfect drawing. He is a remarkably gifted artist. In: Louis Lormel (Libaude), Peinture, La Rénovation esthétique, Paris, June 1908, p. 109.
