32-Dogon (Mali) Large statuette representing a female figure sitting on a seat, carrying a child on her back. Note the very interesting stylization of the shapes and volumes, especially in the shoulders and arms. This stylization brings this work closer to those commonly attributed to the "bombou-toro" style. The eyes, the chest and the hairstyle are enhanced by metal spikes with circular heads. Wood. Height 64 cm. Provenance : former Philippe LECLERCQ collection Acquired in the 1950s.
