MINIATURE PERFUM BOTTLE,
MILAN, late 16th C.
In the form of a vase, carved from a block of blonde agate, topped with a gold stopper decorated with a finely carved rose. Gold mounting partially enamelled with white, held by two links to a gold chain.
Time wear, but good condition.
H. : 4,5 cm - L. : 3 cm.
Reference : see in the book Joyaux Renaissance, from the Kugel gallery, published in 2000, a similar model from the collection of Arturo Lopez Willshaw (1900-1962). Under n° 50, it is specified that "this vase is related to a production of small cups and miniature dishes made in Italy at the end of the 16th century. Similar examples are in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and the Museo degli Argenti in Florence.
