SMALL JAPANESE LACQUER SNUFFBOX, JULIEN ALATERRE - JEAN-BAPTISTE FOUACHE, PARIS, 1768-1774. Oval shape, the hinged lid is decorated with a lacquered panel with a black background and gold highlights representing reeds and wild branches decorated with mother-of-pearl (burgau pellets), the border is of the same decoration. The reverse side of the lid is decorated in gold nashi-ij lacquer with plants, the interior is lacquered with gold nashi-ij. Gold frame finely chased with a garland of flowers and acanthus leaves in two colours of gold (pink and green). Good condition. Title stamp: Paris, 1768-1774. Hallmark of the master-goldsmith : Julien Alaterre, 1768-1774 and countermark Jean-Baptiste Fouache, 1774-1780 H. : 3 cm - L. : 5 cm - D. : 4 cm.
