River scene, China, ca. 1850 Folded fan, the double sheet of paper painted on one side with a palace scene with 25 large figures. All are wearing silk clothing and an ivory head* in relief. On the reverse, a panorama of a river view among mountains. Its banks host a port where many junks come to dock. Black lacquered bamboo mount with gold decoration of a garden scene. Gold-plated metal clasp. H.t. 27 cm- H.f. 16 cm (wear to the folds)
