Original edition decorated with a coloured frontispiece after Ingres, 12 plates without text and 60 portraits.
One of the 219 copies printed on Vélin d'Arches watermarked, in the form, signed by the author and enriched with a historical document, bearing the autograph signature of a prominent figure of the Empire, Claude Victor, Marshal of France, Duke of Bellune, 1769-1840.
