Chassis No.: F101CL23455
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1976 and powered by a 4.8-litre four-camshaft V12, the 400 GT reaffirmed Ferrari's determination to compete with the world's best luxury sports cars. Its spacious, comfortable, luxuriously finished and leather-trimmed interior, stretched up to the roof, makes it a formidable GT ready to face long distances, while its 12-cylinder engine combined with a mechanical gearbox give it a sportiness and driving pleasure never before seen on a GT in its class. When production of the final version ended in 1989, the 412, the most refined Ferrari 2+2, had been in production for 17 years, its exclusivity making it rare to see more than 200 units sold each year.
The copy we present in these pages was delivered new in Germany in April 1978. It was then presented in its current configuration, with this not very widespread maroon metallizzato tint which suits it perfectly. Its first owner kept it only a little more than a year, unlike its second owner who kept it for 10 years. In 1989, its third owner, a Belgian resident, bought the car, which had 83,400 kilometres on the odometer. He will keep it for 25 years when the current collector acquires it. We are therefore in 2015 and according to the information in the file, the car has kept its original engine and automatic transmission. Since the acquisition of this
Ferrari 400 Automatic, the current owner will have carried out a complete restoration of the car.
A first invoice of 15,000 euros for the engine refurbishment in 2015, then nearly 30,000 euros for the interior, the electrical wiring harness and all other elements that needed to be changed or refurbished. Everything is justified on the invoices. She obtains her FFVE certificate which will allow her to be registered in France, as well as her certificate of authenticity in 2017. A final invoice amounting to more than 15,000 euros will cover the complete overhaul of the gearbox, the refurbishment of the 4 suspension modules, the new rebuilding of the exhaust silencers, the air conditioning refill and general engine maintenance. All this will be carried out at Red Cars International.
