Sold new by Pozzi Known history Engine restored in 2016 French registration Chassis n° : F106AB18773 CT of 10/03/2021 unfavourable requiring a counter visit The new 308 GTB, designed by the Pininfarina design office, was in the limelight at the 1975 Paris Motor Show and is without doubt one of the most emblematic designs of the Maranello firm. Named 308 ("30" for 3.0 liters and "8" for 8 cylinders) it uses the chassis of the Dino 308 GT4 with a 21 cm shorter wheelbase. Under the bonnet is the GT4's four-cam V8 engine, which is still positioned transversely at the rear and fed by four Weber 40 twin-barrel carburettors. The eight cylinders produce 255 hp, and the engine block is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Equipped with a dry sump and with a particularly compact, low and tapered silhouette, the 308 GTB was initially manufactured with a polyester shell allowing the whole to weigh no more than 1,100 kg. This means that the car can do less than 26 seconds from a standing start and reach a top speed of 260 km/h. Only 712 units of the lightweight "Vetroresina" version with a polyester body were produced between 1975 and 1977. The Ferrari 308 we present in these pages is one of the 712 Vetroresina produced at that time. According to the chassis number and the factory records, it seems to be the 16th one produced, imported by Charles Pozzi and delivered new on September 9th 1976 in Paris as the copy of its warranty booklet attests. According to the maintenance invoices issued by the Pozzi workshops, the first owner of this Ferrari 308 Vetroresina will have driven a little more than 41,000 kilometers in only two years! Indeed, he parted with it at the beginning of 1978 to the benefit of its second owner living in Blaye in the Bordeaux region. In 1980, the car changed hands again, this time to Finistère, before finding its fourth owner at the end of 1984, in the Yvelines. During all this period, this car was constantly maintained by Pozzi and has been driven a lot for a Ferrari of that time, nearly 110,000 kilometers in only 10 years! In 1993, our 308 returned to the Jura where it remained for nearly twenty years before being acquired by a Belgian rally driver who undertook a complete restoration of the engine in 2016, entrusted to the tuner Wilmi Motorsport. The total cost of the restoration was just over €15,300. It will return to France in 2019 where its current owner will have taken care to repaint the bodywork. This 308 GTB Vetroresina has kept its original interior, nicely patinated and completely cleaned. With just over 140,000 km on the clock, a new paint job and an interior with a beautiful original patina, this 308 has some unique features.
