L.A.S. with DRAWING, October 8, 1910, [to Charles SAUNIER] ; 1 page in-4 (a few slight cracks; the letter is mounted on a map).
Beautiful letter illustrated with a view of the Pont Neuf.
Signac thanks his correspondent for his "study on Monsieur
Auguste [the painter Jules-Robert AUGUSTE (1789-1850), to whom Charles Saunier devoted a study, "Un artiste romantique oublié", in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts of July and September 1910]. I was already very fond of this Mr. Auguste, even if he was a little bit fiercely mysterious.
But now, thanks to you, I know him better and love him more.
[...] Your study is clear, precise, lively"...
The top of the page is occupied by a large pencil drawing representing the Pont Neuf.
