Fine MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century. Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on cotton foundations. A serrated, oblong brick counter-field with double niches, where two stylized floral compositions are suspended, supports a curious rectangular crenellated anthracite medallion, covered with a seedling of multicolored stylized flowers. Crossing anthracite floral spandrels. Two ivory counter-borders enclose the main brick, all three with garlands of polychrome flowers. Good general condition. Dimensions: 200 x 115cm.
