Irene's Cunt. S.l. [Paris], from the author [Jean-Jacques Pauvert], 1952. In-8, paperback. Very nice and rare offprint edition, laid out by Hans Bellmer and published by Jean-Jacques Pauvert. This is the third edition of Le Con d'Irène, after the original of 1928, printed clandestinely at 150 copies, and a bad forgery made in 1948 to harm the author. One of the 100 first copies on Arches laid paper with an original engraving by Hans Bellmer. The current edition, printed at 2000 copies, appeared under the less explicit title of Irène; it does not have this frontispiece. One of the very few copies complete with the printed page, which Pauvert thought he had removed from all copies, in order to protect himself from censorship. This sheet contains a copyright notice in his name, as well as this justification of the print run signed by the fictitious printer Joseph Rousseaux-Mauriac: This work, completed on the presses of the Tari printing house, in November MCMLII, will not be put on the market, all copies being reserved for the author and his friends. Jean-Pierre Dutel cites another copy complete with the final printing. A paperback copy in good condition. Dutel, n°1764.
