Acquired at this sale by the present owners.
We can compare our painting with the set of four
paintings of similar size (71 x 88 cm) which were in
1990 at the Bailly gallery in Paris. The four paintings were
compared with those delivered for the King in 1709 for the sum of
of 370 pounds that were in the apartments of the
Cardinal Dubois at Versailles a few years later
(Enguerrand, Inventory of paintings ordered and purchased
by the Direction des Bâtiments du Roi, Paris, Lerouc, 1900)
