Serial number CF117OU Nice overall condition Affordable six-cylinder engine French collector's registration In 1952, Triumph presented the 20TS prototype that opened the road for the TR2, and all its descendants. The recipe was simple: a small, reliable engine, a fine bodywork as elegant as it was sporty, to be enjoyed with your hair in the wind. In 1969, faced with a shrinking budget following its dissolution in the British Leyland Triumph group, Triumph was unable to create a car from scratch and took the TR5 as the basis for its new model. Designed by Karmann, this cabriolet remained in the same vein as the TR4 and TR5 but came back to the fore with a virile look hiding traditional technical solutions. While the interior is not much different from the TR4 and TR5, the TR6 nevertheless improves its performance with a rear axle now with independent wheels and Lucas injection allowing the engine to deliver 150 horsepower. Triumph's key market is the United States, so the small roadster, which is subject to American emission standards, was fitted with two Stromberg carburettors in its export versions, reducing power to 104 hp. The TR6 that we are now offering for sale is of American origin and fitted with Stromberg 175CDSE carburettors. It is now in almost perfect condition, both mechanically and aesthetically. The interior is original French Blue, black with typical British wood inserts. This Triumph now has more elegant European bumpers than the original ones. This fine example has been regularly followed up, the accompanying invoice book is there to prove it.
