Jan Dries has never ceased to search for and capture light throughout his artistic work. First through photography and then through sculpture. He aims at pure forms in which colour gives way to a gift of light. After experimenting with plaster for the first time in 1959-1960, he works mainly with white Carrara marble, which is more absorbent to light.
Works by Jan Dries can be found in various museums in Belgium and abroad, but also in government collections where they have been integrated into the public space. In addition, his works can also be found in private and corporate collections.
