Catherine I was born Marthe Helen Skavronskaya on 15 April 1684 in Jakobstadt in Livonia and died on 17 May 1727 in St. Petersburg. She was Empress of Russia from February 8, 1725 to May 17, 1727 and married Tsar Peter the Great in 1707.
