(Rel. ép.). At the arms of Jacques de Flesselles (1725-1789): Intendant of Lyon for seventeen years ("he made himself very popular through his skilful administration") then provost of the merchants of Paris, "he was assassinated by an unknown man after the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, and his head was carried on a spade in the Palais-Royal and in the streets". OHR, pl. 1870, iron no. 2, copy cited. Armoured ex-libris : Ap en Den Garf ; Francisque Renard. First guard detached, last sheets torn off; freckles. Binding stained, rubbed, wormholes at a lower jaw.
