It was during her law studies that Françoise Gilot, born in 1921, realised her vocation as a painter. At the turn of 1943, this independent and talented woman met Picasso, of whom she became the muse and the woman. For almost ten years the master represented her under the appearance of the "Flower Woman", radiant and sunny. Muse but no less a talented artist, François Gilot portrays the young Françoise Angelini here in 1944, feeding his painter with cubist precepts. She analyses, decomposes and reconstructs reality by geometrising her model's face. This work, which was offered by the artist to the painter Jean Souverbie, has not left his collection until today.
