[PAS-DE-CALAIS]. [BELL RINGS] [FORESHORE ROUSSEL]. Set of about 60 pieces relating to the de Roussel de Préville family, including one from the 16th c., 7 from the 17th c., 39 from the 18th c., 10 from the 19th c. The Roussel de Préville family is originally from Bolonnois and dates back to the 15th century. The coats of arms are blasonned: Argent a lion Sable armed, lampassed and illuminated Gules, crowned Or. The collection includes notarial deeds, marriage contracts, wills, correspondence, genealogies, service records, patents, pensions. Several documents relating to the title of Chevalier de St-Louis can be found in the 18th century documents. Including: 1. testament of Nymph Roussel de Préville, in English, act on parchment, black ink: Probate of the Will of Marie-Françoise Nymph Roussel de Préville, spinster . Dimensions: 540 x 680 mm Marie Françoise Nymphe Roussel de Préville (1785-England1866) was condemned to death for treason in the year XIII by a military court, a sentence which was transformed into a "political offence ". She was a sort of spy who conspired against Bonaparte until 1803, serving as a messenger for the agents of Abbé Leclerc, conspiring with Cadoudal. It is not known how, or by whom, she began this spying disguised as a farm boy or girl, a fisherman or a sailor, calling herself "Dubuisson", she served as a liaison agent and traveled in all directions the roads of Boulonnais and Marquenterre, Dieppe and Amiens, with one of her farmers (who would be in fact according to police investigations, a notorious smuggler, called Larose of his real name Pierre Marie Pois). She collected information, sent mail or money. Jean Baptiste Antoine du Buisson, Viscount de la Boulaye, who was a sailor stationed in Boulogne-sur-Mer, met her in 1803 on the ramparts of Boulogne and wrote about her: "Only a year ago, I had a rather lively discussion, more than lively if I may say so
