MAGRITTE (René). Autograph letter signed with 2 ORIGINAL Sketches, addressed to "dear friends" [most probably Alexander Iolas]. Nice, June 24, 1961. 2 pp. in-8. " We are back in Nice, Georgette, Loulou [his wife and their dog] and me, keeping the delicious pleasure of your welcome and the splendid environment where you live. It's better than a dream, fortunately... But I am writing to you... also to ask you to add a word to the title "GALATED": IN REVIEWING THE TABLE NAMED BY YOU, I THOUGHT THAT THE TITLE MIGHT BE: "THE DRESS OF GALATED". In this way, potential archaeologists will have something to "think about" and you have, I think, the same pleasure as I have in knowing how Galatea could dress... "He then reveals a project for a house where he would like one of the windows to be crooked and another façade to have a false door opening onto the void upstairs. He accompanies his explanations with TWO ORIGINAL DRAWINGS REPRESENTING HIS SURREALIST HOUSE PROJECT (ballpoint pen, 42 x 58 mm and 35 x 51 mm). It was the gallery owner Konstantinos Koutsoudis, known as Alexander Iolas, who acquired the painting The Dress of Galatea from René Magritte.
