Rare and fine coloured shoe in silk on the front third and in goatskin at ¾ back, decorated on the instep with 4 superimposed pleated ribbons. Leather sole.
Grey patent leather covered heel.
Heel height: 4.7 cm. Length: 22.5 cm.
Marked with a feather on the heel " Shoe of Marie-Antoinette given to M.de Voisey ".
Frayed silk at the tip, small skin tear.

Descendant of Charles Gilbert de La Chapelle (1755-1794), head of the offices of the King's civil list, general commissioner of the House of the King.
The wife of Charles Gilbert de La Chapelle, Marie Emilie née Leschevin was a close friend of Madame Campan, the Queen's first chambermaid.
In the 2008 exhibition on Marie-Antoinette, we find a portrait
given by Madame Campan to Madame de La Chapelle
Charles-Gilbert de La Chapelle (baptized in Lyon on August 11, 1755 - deceased
in 1794), first clerk of the king's house in 1785 and then secretary of the
Commandments of the Dolphin. Other sources report that he has been
captain of the cavalry, secretary of the dolphin command in 17845,
first clerk of the King's House in 1785, general commissioner of the
King's house in 1787. Head of the offices of the Civil List. He was appointed by
Louis XVI to protect the relics of the Sainte-Chapelle, which he did on the 12th of July.
March 1791 by transferring them to the Basilica of Saint-Denis. He was guillotined
in 1794 and buried in the Picpus cemetery.
