Trunk of the Dauphine Marie-Antoinette's wardrobe,
future Queen of France and wife of King Louis XVI.
Made of wood, trimmed with leather, with a rounded lid, reinforced and bordered with iron bands.
forged, studded, and lined with wide wooden protective strips. With inscriptions
on the lid in small brass nails " GARDE ROBE DE LA DAUPHINE
N°5 ». Closed by two wrought iron key locks (one reinforced at the time),
with lock covers.
Transportable by two strong folding wrought-iron handles.
Ht: 50 cm.
Length: 1m12 x 52 cm.

Preserved at the castles of Versailles and Trianon, bearing No. 10, this trunk has an appearance,
a marking and dimensions similar to ours.

Trunk of "Queen's Chamber No. 10". This is also a very similar manufacture, made for
the former Dauphine who became Queen in 1774.
