GOES Hugo van der (Based on) Ghent ?, ca. 1440 - Roode Kloster, near Brussels 1782 The Deposition of the Cross also says Deploration of Christ Oil on panel. Oak. Golden background. Flooring (Missing and uplifting; restorations). H.: 72 cm - W.: 103,5 cm Copy of a late 16th century painting by Hugo van der Goes, known to have been lost in many places, including the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, and the church of Our Lady of Tirmonde, with which our version has affinities, particularly in the colour and type of certain figures (Cf. Elisabeth Dhanens, Hugo van den Goes, pp.178 - 181 - Fonds Mercator 1998). An old copy (Wood; 54.3 x 71.5 cm) is kept in the Louvre Museum (R. F 1505), another one in Amiens Cathedral (Cf. Jacques Foucart, Catalogue des peintures flamandes et hollandaises du musée du Louvre, p.33 - Gallimard / Musée du Louvre 2009).
