Memoirs. Paris, Baudouin, 1824. In-8, cherry Russian half leather, spine decorated (contemporary binding). First public edition, decorated with a portrait of the author drawn by himself and engraved with a dotted line (cf. Tourneux, n°21610). The Memoirs of the Duke of Montpensier (1775- 1808), younger brother of Louis-Philippe, were first published in 1816 under the title Relation de la captivité... during the years 1793, 1794, 1795 and 1796, printed on the private presses that this prince had established in Twickenham, England. The following was bound: - GAMACHE Louis-François. Account of the translation of Louis-Philippe Joseph duc d'Orléans from the prisons of Marseille to the Conciergerie de Paris in 1793. Paris, GaultierLaguionie, n. d. [1827]. Original edition of this text written by a servant of Philippe-Égalité, recounting the transfer of the latter, under the Terror, from the prison of Marseilles to Paris where he was guillotined (cf. Tourneux, no. 21564). - Biographical notes of the princes and princesses of the House of Orleans. Notices extracted from the Biographie des Contemporains. Paris, Plassan, 1824. First separate edition, extracted from the fifteenth volume of the Biographie des contemporains, decorated with 7 portraits out of text engraved by Couché fils . Elegantly bound copy, from the library of King Louis-Philippe at the Palais-Royal, with its stamp on the title (II, 1852, n°2002). It is enriched with 3 plates engraved and watercoloured at the time according to original drawings made by the Duke of Montpensier during his captivity. Freckles, upper hinge slightly marked.
