Manuscript in-8 (193 x 125 mm), 2 folios and 100 pages, long-grained red morocco, framed with fillets and castors, coat of arms in the centre, smooth ornate spine, crowned numeral and emblem repeated on the spine, inner castor, blue lining and tabis guards, gilt edges (contemporary binding).
Remarkable manuscript executed for Empress Marie-Louise, bound in morocco with the arms, numerals and emblems of the imperial couple.
Calligraphic manuscript in brown ink, except for the title, dedication, initials, titles of the hymns and psalms which are in gold lettering, decorated with 2 small bands in pink ink depicting country landscapes and a vignette inspired by the fable of the Raven and the Fox. Music notated on staves traced in red ink.
This manuscript, dated 15 August 1811, was copied by a man named L. J. DÉLION, a 22-year-old primary school teacher from Paris, on the occasion of the feast of the Assumption and to celebrate the birth of Napoleon II, the only son of the imperial couple and King of Rome (March 1811-1832).
