History of the campaigns of 1814 and 1815, including the political and military history of the two invasions of France, Buonaparte's enterprise in March, the total fall of his power, the double restoration of the Throne, and all the events that took place in France, up to and including the Second Peace of Paris. Paris, Le Normant, 1816-1817. 4 volumes in-8, red long-grained demimaroquin, leatherette paper plates, fine palmette scrolls, smooth spine decorated with grotesque motifs, green leather tomaison pieces, speckled edges (Binding at the time). Final edition, mostly original. The first two volumes devoted to the 1814 campaign are increased by one chapter, the two volumes relating to the 1815 campaign are in original edition. A leading source on the campaigns of the end of the Empire and the Hundred Days. Alphonse de Beauchamp (1767-1832), employed during the Terror at the Committee of General Security and the Ministry of Police, was dismissed during the Empire for having used the police archives in his Histoire des guerres de Vendée, published in 1806. "He is still considered one of the first historians of the Vendée Wars and the 1814-1815 campaigns" (Tulard). Beautiful copy, in a very fresh binding of the time.
