"[...] it would be an understatement to say that I am happy about what keeps you in Algeria, it is what weighs on my days here, which has definitively cut me off from an intellectual society ready to resign and which has finally made me choose a temporary retirement [...]....] [...] I have never felt my books better with our unfortunate country and with all those who, like you, testify that it was not built only on injustice, on verbiage, whatever its wrongs and errors [...]".
