L.A.S. "Georges Bizet", [September 25 ? 1872], by clarinetist Philippe PARÈS; 1 page et demie petit in-8.
On L'Arlésienne .
[Bizet composed this incidental music for the play by Alphonse Daudet, premiered on October 1, 1872 at the Théâtre du Vaudeville; he will draw an orchestral suite from it, and a second suite will be arranged by Ernest Guiraud after Bizet's death. The n° 7 in question here is the beautiful Pastorale which opens the 2nd act of the play, and the 2nd Suite].
" As a result of a new combination adopted for No. 7 of the Arlésienne, the two flutists will have to play the grand flute and the Piccolo. - Would you be kind enough, if you have the opportunity to see Monsieur Elie, to ask him to bring his little flute?.... I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your help and the zeal you have brought to the composition of our magnificent harmony. The execution exceeds all my expectations, and I will not forget that it is to you that I am largely indebted for this excellent result " .
