In folio, sowskin cold-stamped on bevelled ais, dishes decorated with a decoration of wheels, irons and nets drawing a large panel, spine ribbed, traces of clasps (contemporary binding). Second Latin edition of the Hippocratic corpus, in the translation of Marco Fabio Calvo († 1527) which was revised and completed by those of Niccolo Leoniceno (1428-1524), Andreas Brentius († 1483) and Wilhelm Copp (1460-1532). It appeared one year after the Latin edition of Rome and in the same year as the Greek princeps edition (Venice, Aldus). This translation by Calvo marks a turning point in the history of science, since it ensured a wide dissemination of the Hippocratic corpus in Europe. Printed in round letters, it is decorated with a woodcut title frame depicting King Solomon surrounded by philosophers and the Muses crowning Homer, and another frame for the first page of text, the latter engraved by Hans Holbein. Attractive copy preserved in its original stamped sowskin binding, with some underlining and marginal notes of the period. Mention of sending to the upper back cover, addressed to a Dr. Auber and dated 1860. Stain on a few pages of sections f and g, laceration without loss of text consolidated on page p1 (the repair did not hold). A few wormholes without gravity at the end of the volume.
