De cautionibus in sanguinis missione. Paris, Pierre L'Huillier, 1578. In-8, soft calfskin with overlapping, traces of laces (contemporary binding). Durling, n°2144. Original edition. A work in which Bonaventure Grangier († 1589) denounces the practice of bleeding recently introduced in Paris by Léonard Botal (Botallus), a Piedmontese physician who was in the service of the Duke of Alençon and Henri III. A vellum copy of the time, with annotations and underlining in ink by an early 17th century reader. 17th century manuscript ex-libris on a guard: Ant. Bertin doct. med. Handwritten mention on another guard, dated 1617. Some of the leaves are brownish brown. Repair of paper at the head of the title page, following the cutting of an ex-libris. Stained vellum, body of the volume partly detached from the binding.
