Bembe figure, Democratic Republic of the Congo Wood with brown patina, porcelain H. 15.5 cm Bembe figure, Democratic Republic of the Congo H. 6 1/8 in Provenance: - European private collection This Bembe figure can be identified as being part of a workshop by his hairstyle, particularly the three lateral braids on each side of his head and his small feet embedded in a round base (cf. the Bembe statuette from the Binoche and Giquello sale of 14 November 2019, lot 37). The other aspects of the figure are classic with its ventral scarification, its porcelain eyes and the magical charge hole in the lower back. He holds a gun and a knife in his hands.
