An almost identical marble is kept in the Museum of Fine Art in Boston ( 63.1627), signed van der Bogaert and dated 1699. Acquired in 1963 from E.E. de Visser in the Netherlands, described as coming from the Collection de la Faillesse en Auvergne, formerly called 'Amour Endormi', it would have been made for a mistress of Louis XIV.
Nephew of the sculptor Martin DESJARDINS and married to the daughter of the engraver and architect Michel Hardouin.
