Fierabras, national legend.
Translated by Mary Lafon. Paris, Librairie nouvelle, 1857. In-8. Illustration of twelve beautiful engravings drawn by G. Doré. Half-binding of the period in red chagrin. Spine ribbed and decorated with gilt boxes and gilt title, plates dressed with roge percaline, gilt iron in the center of the plates. The illustrations of Fierabras are conceived in the same spirit as those of the Adventures of the Knight Gaufre: swarming battles, assaults on high towers, riding through medieval landscapes, where formidable and incredible fortresses loom on the horizon. Gustave Doré finds himself here in one of the evocative environments he has always preferred, says Leblanc, pp. 202-204. Rare continuation of the adventures of Knight Jauffre.
