Important 20th century Savonnerie style carpet, Empire style.
Carpet hand-knotted in wool velvet on cotton foundations. Black field with a very large central medallion with bronze, ivory, old gold and old pink flowered crowns framed by scrolls of acanthus foliage crenellated in twists decorated with strands of flowers.
Gilded wood framed borders.
