Exceptional and important carpet at the point of the soap factory (France) at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Wool velvet on cotton foundations. Ivory field decorated with a very large central medallion crenellated oval old gold mirror-shaped medallion inlaid with a bouquet of flowers in polychrome Four spandrels with gilded medallions ending with compositions of fine multicoloured flowering stems Large lilac border with interlacing twisted lace foliage surrounded by flowering palmettes in pastel tones Slight natural wear. Good condition overall 490 x 390 cm
