PELOTA PLAYER Huatec culture, Panuco, Mexico Ancient Classical, 250-450 AD. H. 32 cm high Ceramic pink beige Man standing, legs slightly bent, wearing a belt... pellet (used in the ball game). The arms are stretched out along the body, and the hands brought back to the thighs. He's wearing sandals and a visible protection on the left knee. Head well detached from the trunk at long neck adorned with a necklace. Beautiful face with a fine nose, slightly aquiline. On the sides, presence of imposing ear discs. The skull is covered with an elegant bun headdress, which is held by an blindfold. (Visibly broken) Completely handmade, in pinkish beige clay, this figurine identifies easily with Huatec culture through its singular style. contrasting with the other styles of Mesoamerican societies.
