In-folio (32,8 x 24,7 cm), soft blue night blue grief binding, gilt author and title in the centre of the first cover, smooth spine, half grief folder, slipcase (Loutrel).
Important set of 49 autograph letters signed at Cillie Pam.
95 p. on 51 ff. and 3 double ff. in-8 and in-12, in black or blue ink, one in pencil, signed "Louis" except one signed "Louis
D" and the last one signed "L. Ferd. ", on various papers including 12 on his address (98 rue Lepic), 4 on papers from the health administration of the town of Clichy, 4 on the letterhead of Pigall's Tabac and 1 on the letterhead of the ship Polaris.
The volume is also composed of 4 autograph signed letter cards, 2 autograph signed postcards and 3 envelopes with autograph addresses.
Most of the letters are undated.
The letter dated September 30, 1932 has a few annotations on the back of the last page, probably in Cillie's hand.
Also bound in this volume are an embroidered placemat ("I will send you a little lace"), a radiogram and a typewritten letter from Ruth C. Allen.
Each letter is tabbed, protected by a snake.
Several letters evoke Celine's literary work.
For example, in a letter dated the end of September 1932, Celine announces the imminent publication of Voyage au bout de la nuit: "The book will be published on October 5th. You will receive it right away.
That is not what will feed me either. "The book finally appears on October 15, 1932.
On December 6, 1932, Céline mentioned the awarding of the
Goncourt prize. Voyage au bout de la nuit is the big favourite: "I'm waiting for the Prix Goncourt, which will be awarded tomorrow at noon.
You have probably heard about it. It's supposed to be the best novel of the year. I am indifferent to this glory, but I would like the financial result, which is very important and assures you once and for all of material independence, my dream. "In the<
