burin I state/III, mm 172x230, 1532, The test, clear and contrasted, in the first state of 3, before the edition of Salamanca, is printed on paper with a watermark "Still in the circle with star" datable to the first half of the sixteenth century. The work, taken from an invention by Raphael and inspired by the series of the Fable of Love and Psyche, shows the girl struggling with her last and terrible test, necessary to achieve immortality. Sent to the underworld by Venus in the presence of Proserpine, the maiden is caught while begging the Queen of the Underworld to give her some of her beauty.
