L.A.S. "Claude Monet", Hôtel d'Angleterre, Rouen "April 3 or 4 or maybe 5" [1893?], to a friend; 2 in-8 pages on squared paper (cracks and frayed edges with some small marginal paper lacks). About his Rouen Cathedral paintings. "I am waiting for you and as soon as possible again, warning me the day before. If you do not receive a dispatch it is because I will be absent. I'm at a loss to know where I stand. I've been sick again and had every possible devein. Come and tell me if I'm still on the right track. Fourteen cathedrals is frightening and I'm at the end of my strength, so much so that I'm overwhelmed by this wonderful weather. I'm waiting for the notice of your coming with Joyant no doubt"... He adds that it was Mme Hoschedé who wrote to unsubscribe him from the Independent Review...
