Born in the town of Pernovo (today Pärnu, Estonia), like Gustav Fabergé (1814-1893), founder of the House of the same name and father of Karl, he had married Gustav's sister Carolina Fabergé (1798-1873).
He worked for his in-laws and on his own account.
