A revival of the composition by Pieter - Paul Rubens, painted around 1616 - 1617, known by two versions, the modello (46.3 x 64.5 cm) and the finished work (209 x 272 cm), which are kept in the collection of the Princes of Liechtenstein (Cf. Liechtenstein Museum. The Collections. Gallery VIII. The Early Work of Pieter Paul Rubens, pp.300 - 302, 314 - 316 - 2004).
From the union of the god Mars and the Vestal Rhea Silvia were born Remus and Romulus, founders of Rome.
